Why this air fryer ravioli recipe works
- Toasted raviolis are such a fun appetizer that everyone will love! This is the type of tasty appetizer that’s restaurant quality but you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home. Plus, who doesn’t love dippable finger foods that are delicious and crispy?!
- There’s very little grease and less mess to clean up! Since these ravioli are fried without oil, they’re not that greasy and there’s no oil splatter to clean off your stovetop.
- You get a super crispy exterior with very little oil! The only oil used is to spray the air fryer basket and lightly spray the tops of the ravioli. There’s no deep frying or pan frying involved.
- It takes less than 10 minutes per batch to make and they come out delicious dipped in marinara.
Ingredients
The full list of ingredients and amounts to make this recipe is included in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
You’ll need a 12 ounce package of fresh or frozen ravioli for this recipe. You can use any kind of ravioli filling you prefer - veggie, meat or cheese ravioli. They all work in this recipe.
We use Italian bread crumbs to make the breading. You can also use panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch if you prefer. If using plain breadcrumbs, you'll want to add some Italian seasoning and salt, along with garlic powder and onion powder.
For extra seasoning, you’ll need ⅛ cup of shredded Parmesan cheese and 1 teaspoon of garlic salt to add to the breadcrumbs. (Make sure you use garlic salt and not garlic powder!)
Step by step instructions to make air fried ravioli
Serve hot with slow cooker marinara sauce or this instant pot Bolognese (so good!) or any other sauce for dipping.
Dipping sauce options
While we normally serve these air fryer ravioli with chunky homemade marinara sauce, there are so many other delicious options. Here are a few to try:
- Spicy Cajun Remoulade Sauce
- Ranch Dressing
- Argentinian Chimichurri Sauce
- Pesto Sauce
- Avocado Dip
- Red Chimichurri
Expert tips for toasted ravioli in the air fryer
- For even cooking, air fry the ravioli in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, this will require at least 2-3 batches.
- Make sure you flip the ravioli over halfway through air frying so they brown evenly. (You’ll want to use tongs to do this!)
- The ravioli get crispy quickly, so keep an eye on them so they don’t burn. Start checking for doneness at 6 minutes. Larger ravioli may need an additional 1-2 minutes.
- For maximum crispiness, press the breadcrumbs lightly into the ravioli so they stick to the egg coating and lightly spray them with oil before air frying.
- You’ll want to keep your batches warming in the oven at about 200°F degrees while you finish air frying. To do this, arrange the air fried ravioli in a single layer on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and they should stay warm and crispy in the oven!
- Instead of PAM or store-bought cooking spray, use an oil sprayer and a good quality oil. Cooking sprays may damage your air fryer.
- If your air fryer model requires preheating, you should preheat the air fryer before adding the ravioli.
- Different air fryer brands and models will vary slightly, so you may need to adjust the temperature and air frying time slightly.
Common questions
For the best texture, you’ll want to air fry ravioli at 375F degrees. At this temperature, the ravioli will be perfectly golden brown and crispy on the outside and hot in the middle. If you use a higher temperature, you risk the outside getting too browned and crispy before the middle is heated through.
Yes, whatever type of fresh ravioli you use, you’ll want to cook them first as this helps soften the ravioli in the middle. The purpose of air frying them is to get the outside golden brown and crispy.
Yes, you can use frozen ravioli. Just cook them according to package instructions, then follow the recipe to bread and air fry them.
Toasted ravioli are best enjoyed hot and fresh. If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can reheat them in the air fryer at 375°F degrees for 2-3 minutes.
You can freeze the toasted ravioli for up to 3 months. Just let them cool completely and store them in a single layer in a freezer safe container. To reheat, place the frozen ravioli in the air fryer and air fry at 350°F degrees for 3-4 minutes, or until heated through.

Absolutely love this! When my husband was a bachelor, deep fried ravioli was his signature party/potluck contribution. We haven't had it in years, and since getting my air fryer, he brought up doing the ravioli in the air fryer! He'll be thrilled about this.
