What is an Air Fryer?
The Air Fryer is a healthier alternative to frying foods. It's basically a small, powerful convection oven that sits on your countertop.
It circulates hot air around the food you're cooking, which is what gives it that crisp texture that mimics fried food (without all the grease).

I personally use this Ninja MAX XL Air Fryer because it hold 5.5 quarts, which is more than most. It has worked great so far and we just love how easy it is to use!

Why This Recipe Works
- When you want to make a couple biscuits but don't want to turn on the oven and heat up the entire kitchen (especially during the summer months!), the air fryer is prefect for making biscuits in.
- The outside of the biscuits are so nice and crispy thanks to the air fryer. It's much crispier than if you had used the oven!
- It frees up your oven for other things like my Baked Egg Cups so breakfast can be made smoothly.
The Ingredients
For this air fryer biscuit recipe, you pretty much only need the can of biscuits and you're good to go!
Biscuits — I selected Grand Flaky biscuits but you can pick your favorite. If you prefer regular flaky or grand homestyle, you are welcomed to use that instead.
Spray oil — I suggest not using PAM and to use a spray made with real oil. It is much better for your air fryer (plus it tastes better). Try this oil sprayer from Amazon.
Step by Step Instructions
Spray the bottom of the air fryer with your favorite oil (using an oil sprayer).
Place 4 biscuits in the bottom, leaving a little space between each to give them space to rise.
Cook on "air fry" at 330F degrees for 9-11 minutes, shaking them halfway through. They will be golden brown when done.
Brush them with melted butter and serve.
Expert Tips
- Make sure there is space between the biscuits and that you do not stack the biscuits. You want the hot air in the air fryer to be able to circulate and have the entire biscuit exposed to it.
- Since there are so many models of air fryers, you might want to take a look at the biscuits at the 8 minute mark to see if they need 9 minutes or the full 11 minutes to finish up.
- If your air fryer is the type with racks, you might have to rotate them at the halfway mark as they don't air fry the same as the basket versions.
- If you don't want to use cooking oil in the basket, you can purchase the parchment papers that are cut to fit your air fryer basket and line your basket instead.
- I love digging into these biscuits while they're hot from the air fryer, especially alongside a bowl of beef stew to dip the biscuits in, or slathered with some lemon curd or lime curd (SO GOOOOD).
Common Questions
You can use any type of canned biscuits for this air fryer biscuit recipe, from Costco brand to Trader Joe's to Pillsbury's.
If you only plan on making 1 to 2 air fryer biscuits, you'll have to store your leftover canned biscuit dough in an airtight bag in the fridge as it will harden over time. It's best to use the dough immediately or within 2 days. Alternatively, you can air fry all of the biscuits and reheat the extras when ready to enjoy.
You can easily reheat leftover refrigerated biscuits in the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes at 300F. Any higher and your biscuits might crisp up a little too much.
