These grilled fruit kabobs are made with fresh chunks of your favorite fruit, skewered and grilled to get a light smoky charred flavor, then served with a tangy chili lime vinaigrette. And it's all on the table in 20 minutes!

These dessert skewers are refreshing, delicious and HEALTHY! And like this grilled mango, grilled fruit goes great with a tangy chili lime sauce and makes a great tangy fruit salad.
While fresh fruit is always a good dessert for summertime, grilling fruit allows the sugars to caramelize, making it even sweeter and more delicious. And those nice grill marks and caramelized flavor don't hurt.
Serve them alongside these yummy orange creamsicle popsicles or lemonade popsicles to keep cool and refreshed all summer long.

Why this grilled fruit kabobs recipe works
- Fruit is cut in large enough pieces to skewer and grill without it falling off.
- The vinaigrette can be made in the short time the fruit kabob is being grilled. It can also be made the day before.
- Grilled fruit is a refreshing sweet treat for warmer summer days, or even when you're looking for a healthier treat!
- Besides the time spent cutting the fruit, it has very minimal hands on time, making it a very easy grilled fruit dessert.

Ingredients to make fruit skewers
The full list of ingredients and amounts is included in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Fruit: You can use whatever kind of fruit you like, as long as you can get it on a skewer. I use pineapple, kiwi, papaya and mango. Consider using fruits like strawberries, melon, watermelon, peaches, pears, and apples.
Chili lime vinaigrette: Fresh lime juice, chili seasoning like Tajin and a touch of honey is all that's needed to make this. You can also try brushing on this hot honey!
Step by step instructions

Step 3: In the meantime, combine the vinaigrette ingredients in a bowl and whisk together (you can do this step the day before if you're trying to save time).

Step 4: Remove the grilled fruit skewers from the grill, drizzle with the chili lime sauce (optional) and serve.

You can also remove all the fruit from the skewers and place in a bowl to make a fruit salad. Just drizzle the vinaigrette over the fruit after placing it in the bowl.
Expert tips for grilled fruit kabobs
- Any fruit that can be skewered will work for this recipe. You will need a total of 5 cups of chopped fruit.
- Fruit should be cut in large enough pieces that it can be easily skewered; about 1-2" minimum. Keep the pieces as uniform as possible.
- Brush the fruit skewers and the grill with olive oil to prevent the fruit from sticking.
- The fruit will have light grill marks on it when it's done.
- Sprinkle VERY lightly with salt and/or glaze with honey to bring out the flavor of fruit even more.
- You can use wood skewer or metal skewers. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20-30 minutes before putting the fruit on.

Serving options
- Serve with a honey yogurt sauce instead of chili lime sauce. Mix Greek yogurt and honey together to make a sauce (about ½ cup yogurt to 2 teaspoons honey). This is the best fruit dip perfect for eating fruit!
- Serve with homemade easy lemon curd or lime curd.
- Serve over a bowl of yogurt (you can even make your own sous vide yogurt!).
- Make this more decadent by dipping the fruit in melted chocolate, Nutella or peanut butter.
- Brush with honey or maple syrup and/or a squeeze of fresh lime, orange or lemon. Honey and lime is a delicious combination for this fruit!
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a light dessert.
- We love grilled fruit as a side dish for sous vide salmon, spicy tuna salad, sous vide scallops and sous vide swordfish. Grilled apples are particularly good with these sous vide pork chops.
Frequently asked questions
Many fruits can be really delicious grilled, and these are some of the best grilling recipes for fruit on the grill:
- Peaches
- Mango
- Strawberries
- Pineapple
- Melon (watermelon, cantaloupe, etc.)
- Pears
- Apples
- Papaya
- Plums
On a grill heated to medium high heat (about 400°F), it takes from 3-5 minutes per side when grilling fruit. It is done when there are light grill marks on each side.
A quick drizzle of lemon juice will help keep the fruit kabobs from turning brown. You can also use a light spray of saltwater (not too much) and a little brush of honey if you don't mind the added sweetness.
Leftover fruit kabobs can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days. They can be eaten cold or gently reheated on a grill or even in the microwave.

OMG that chilli lime vinaigrette sounds amazing. I love adding chilli salt to mango, etc, so I can imagine that this tastes like you're sitting on a beach somewhere tropical.
Danielle says
That's exactly what it feels like!
Eva says
I never tried vinaigrette on fruits! The boldest I've been was balsamic on strawberries but this is on another level of awesomeness altogether. I regret not having a proper grill but just a tiny portable one, I guess mine doesn't work well enough to be able to grill fruits without making a hot mess. I will have to take thisnodea when I get invited to friends' who have the real deal, that would sure surprise everybody. Fruit skewers on the grill are really cool!
Danielle says

So delicious! I didn't go the tropical route, because that's just not my thing. But, I did select fruits that were readily available and the ones that we like in our home. The pineapple was a must though! So glad I picked up that Chili Lime seasoning during my last visit to Trader Joe's!
Danielle says
Thanks Byron! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂 That chili lime seasoning is awesome!
