If you’ve ever had Mango Lassi then you’ll know just how delicious it is! Diced mango blended up with dairy to make a delicious milkshake-like drink, we can never get enough of it.
It is the perfect sweet drink for any occasion, whether it's the heat of the summer or in the dead of winter.
So cool and refreshing, mango lassi is one of my favorite drinks to order at my local Indian restaurant. While I love ordering it, I also want to be able to enjoy mango lassi at home as well.
If you're a fan of mango, you'll LOVE this grilled mango!
Luckily, it only takes a handful of ingredients to make and they’re fridge staples for me.
Creamy and oh so tasty, this mango lassi takes only a few minutes to put together! The most time consuming part is preparing the mangos but since you can use frozen mango, it’s simply as quick as it takes to measure the ingredients!
It's perfect served with spicy curry dishes like this potato curry, eggplant curry or spicy zucchini curry.

What is Mango Lassi?
Mango lassi is a traditional dahi based drink from the Indian subcontinent made with mango.
Dahi is a traditional yogurt or fermented milk product prepared from cow’s milk. As it’s made from mango and yogurt, it is comparable to a milkshake or smoothie.

Why This Recipe Works
- The ingredient list is super short and can be easily found in any grocery store.
- It’s a super customizable recipe as you can adjust just how sweet and creamy you’d like your mango lassi to be!
- You can make this vegan friendly if you’d like to accommodate any dietary needs.
The Ingredients
For this mango lassi recipe, you won’t believe that you only need a couple simple ingredients!
Frozen mango — You are more than welcome to use fresh mango if is in season. Frozen mango is super easy to find in stores as well as being pre-diced so it saves you time.
**if you have any leftover mango, this dehydrated mango is a great way to preserve it!
Yogurt — Full fat yogurt is definitely preferred to maximize creamy texture but low-fat could work as well.
Honey — To sweeten the mango lassi, a touch of honey is just perfect.
The full list of ingredients can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Step by Step Instructions
Add the mango cubes to the blender.
Add in the yogurt. Add in milk if using.
Add in the honey.
Blend and serve.
Garnish with almonds (optional).
Expert Tips
- If you find it hard to blend the ingredients, add in the milk, a little at a time.
- To make this vegan friendly you can substitute vegan yogurt and almond milk.
- For fresh mango, be sure that the mango is ripe.
- You can also add some ice cubes to the drink to make sure it’s cool.
- Instead of honey, you can opt for sugar or agave.
- Not a huge fan of mango? Strawberry lassi is a great alternative to try! Simply swap the diced mango for strawberries.
- You can make your own frozen mangoes by dicing up fresh mango and then freezing it in a single layer on a parchment lined sheet pan. Once frozen, transfer it to a bag and store it in the freezer until ready to use. It's perfect for when you've got a bunch of ripe mangoes but not enough time to enjoy it all!
- If you have some cinnamon or cardamom powder, you can add a pinch to your lassi before blending!
Common Questions
If you are using Greek yogurt, you’ll have to use ¾ cup or add additional milk as it is thicker than regular yogurt.
While I don’t recommend you using flavored yogurt, you could purchase yogurt that has been sweetened with honey.
I suggest enjoying your mango lassi within the day for the best tasting drink. You can store any you don’t finish in the fridge for up to a day but try to finish it as soon as you are able to.
Luckily, it only takes a minute or so to make so you don’t have to worry about making this ahead of time!
If you have some cinnamon or cardamom powder, you can add a pinch to your lassi before blending! It adds a nice spice to the drink.
You can also substitute any fruit for the mango if you prefer to (try strawberry, blueberry or pineapple).
We almost always order a mango lassi with our dinner when eating out. You might enjoy drinking your lassi alongside our Tandoori Chicken Pizza, Instant Pot Chicken Curry, and Cauliflower Tikka Masala.
